passion projects
I'm happiest when I can use my creative skills to make the world a little better—whenever and wherever possible. I've produced five charity art auctions, donated artwork to TV shows, illustrated three books, contributed to art exhibits, and volunteered my expertise to local art colleges.
I do it because I love connecting with people.
AIGA STL: For a Cause Charity Art Auctions
I joined the AIGA St Louis Board in 2010 to create a new Chair that could foster local design while also supporting local charities. I organized and curated annual art parties that would feature the art of local and sometimes national artists. From the beginning the shows were designed to help kids see firsthand the power that art and design has to make a positive impact.

CBS Sunday Morning: Interstitials
CBS Sunday Morning ends all of its segments with a full-screen image that accents the story before they go to commercial. I'm proud to have had my art featured six times. Here my three favorites. The "Flag Sun" has been used twice. The first time was for a segment on the events of January 6th, 2021.
All the Things That Bee Might Be
This book features a rhyming, sing-along story about empathy, kindness, and community, gently imparting the message that every life, no matter how small, holds value and importance. My hope is that this story will inspire kids, parents, and grandparents to think more imaginatively about the tiny critters they encounter, fostering a deeper appreciation for all living beings.
Scribbling in the Dark
I lost my parents seven weeks apart back in December of 2017 and February of 2018. To deal with the pain, I took time off from work and journaled all of my thoughts and feelings. I even tried to find a little humor. I created about 50 drawings. It helped.

More often than not, I create art just for the fun of it.
